Guide Training

by merrick

Well folks it official! Well… almost official. I completed my weekend of guide training out at Hueco Tanks State and Historical Park and I have done one of my observation tours, so all that is left is my second observation and I will be a volunteer guide. Hopefully that will happen real soon (update: this has now happened). A few friends and I drove up a few weeks ago, they drove to climb, and I went to, um, climb and go the class. There was a lot of information given out over the 3 day course and you really get to learn more about the park and why they are the way they are with all of the rules and regulations. It was an eye opener, and I gained some insight. Although it is still a bummer that it has to be that way, especially when you are at one of the best climbing zones in the world, but it is what it is and you do what you have to do in order to get what you want. While there, I was able to get in some climbing as well as get some photos and I am really excited to learn that I am allowed to take photographs while on volunteer tours (so long as it doesn’t interfere with my duties). Enjoy:
